Just before school started, we learned that a senior from my daughter's high school was killed in a car accident. A few days ago, a junior at another local high school passed away from illness.Yet another sudden tragedy struck a 10th grade boy who used to attend our church. He suffered a stroke, and we are praying that he recovers well after surgery.

Can you imagine yourself as a parent under those circumstances? I know many of you can. Some of you have suffered lost and critical illnesses...

Last week a family with a little toddler came to visit us at our home. Since we keep our computer out in the living room area, he immediately saw an opportunity to play. He climbed up on the chair, very naturally put his hand on the mouse, and started maneuvering the pointer on the monitor screen. He was only two years old!

However, when we look at our culture today, we realize that parenting requires much more. In the past, our culture generally reinforced the same values that we teach our children at home. But it is no longer true.
